A DETERMINED fundraiser who suffers from Chronic Pain Syndrome is travelling across an African country to raise money for charity.

Kelly Cleaner, 36, and from Braintree, is taking part in the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance's Trek Tanzania fundraising event in October next year.

She has already started fundraising and has set herself a target of raising £3,500 which will go directly to the charity.

Kelly said: "I'm doing it because they are such a fantastic charity, who receive no money from the NHS and it costs approximately £500,000 a month to keep the charity going.

"I'm doing everything from bucket collections to charity days out.

"I will also be collecting toys to take with me to give to local children, so if anyone gets any extra gifts this Christmas or little toys out of the Christmas crackers that they want to donate them please send anything to me."

Last year Kelly took on a trek in Cambodia on behalf of Dream 100, where she used to play the character Kelly the Cleaner on the popular breakfast show.

She said: "The trek was amazing, hard work very hot and the humidity was 90%.

"There were massive spiders and scorpions, but it was great fun sleeping in a campsite every night."

This time she will spend nine days trekking with members of the Maasai tribe as her guides, sleeping out in the open and under the stars and covering 70 kilometers in a particularly challenging 5 days.

Kelly said: "As always I'm very excited I know the training is going to be very difficult especially for me with my injuries but even if I can help just one other person in the future it's all been worth it."
