A FAMILY has walked 12 miles in memory of a mum who suffered with Multiple Sclerosis.

Anne Hughes, from Camberton Road in Braintree, died in May last year after suffering with MS for 15 years.

Her family walked for four and a half hours on Sunday to raise money for the centre at which she stayed.

They walked from Braintree town centre, along the Flitch Way to Felsted and back again.

Her niece, Eli-Anna Chapman, from Clacton, took part in the walk.

She said: "We wanted to raise money for the Tabor Centre in Braintree, where she used to attend and have nice days out, as they looked after her so well and it's close to home.

"Donations are still coming in but we should raise more than £1,000.

"It was very difficult but we all did it as a family, the youngest was 14 and the eldest was 52."

Anne's daughter Imogen, 14, took part in the walk.

She also has a son called Stafford, 17.

Miss Chapman, 23, said: "It was nice to do it as a family and we just wanted to do something for her.

"It was such beautiful weather, the sun was shining- it was so picturesque."

Anne died when she was 42, and the family said she was always bubbly.

Miss Chapman said: "She was always the life of the party but towards the end she was completely bedbound and lost her speech.

"It was really sad that someone so young can go through that."
