A POPULAR public right of way is set to be diverted amid safety concerns.
Engineers have been monitoring the condition of the disused railway bridge above the Flitch Way in Rayne, which is a no-through road toward Fenton’s Farm.
Now the right of way underneath is due to be closed from tomorrow until repairs to the parapets on the bridge can be completed.
Pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders will be diverted and redirected by signage advising them of the new route in the area.
Fenton’s Road will also be narrowed temporarily to keep road users away from the parapets.
Highways engineers are looking at ways to make the bridge safe as soon as possible and will continue to monitor the bridge monthly.
