A TEAM of adventurous fundraisers braved the wet and wild weather to scale England's highest mountain for a children's charity.

The finance team from Jardine Motors Group in Witham, tackled the 3,209 foot climb at Scafell Pike in the Lake District on July 9.

Between them, the ten members have raised nearly £2,000 to support charity Whizz-Kidz work across Essex.

Allan Collier, team captain, and Whizz-Kidz charity champion said: “The team are absolutely delighted to have been able to raise some money for Whizz-Kidz by tackling this challenge.

"We’d been looking for something we could do as a team, and as none of us had ever done anything like this before we thought we’d give it a go.

“It was an extremely tough challenge; the weather turned and we had gale force winds and driving rain, but we made it to the top, so we’re all really proud of what we’ve achieved.”

Jardine Motors and Whizz-Kidz have been in partnership since 2014, working on a programme of activities that have showcased the businesses commitment to the community.

Ruth Owen, Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, said: “Everyone at Whizz-Kidz is incredibly proud of Allan and the team; tacking England’s highest mountain is no mean feat, and the money they’ve raised will make an enormous difference to the lives of young disabled people in Essex.

“I want to thank all of Jardine Motors Group’s staff, as well as their friends, families and customers; their continued support is transforming the lives of disabled children across the UK, and of that they should be very proud indeed.”

Whizz-Kidz work with disabled children supporting them to become confident and independent young adults.
