YEAR six leavers waved goodbye to their primary school in style at a Hawaiian themed party.
Pupils from Howbridge Church of England Primary School in Witham attended the celebration on July 20 - their last day as primary school pupils.
The children dressed in hula skirts and flowers and enjoyed a huge party with a professional photo-booth, disco and a giant inflatable slide - all paid for with money pupils had raised themselves earlier in the year through a special enterprise event.
Each pupil was given an environmentally-friendly helium balloon which they tied their hopes and dreams for the future to and the whole school and their parents then watched them be released in an emotional final gathering in the playground.
Ross James, a year six pupil, said: "It was a very special week for us, and the watching my balloon soar into the sky was quite emotional."
Damon Howlett, assistant headteacher, said: ""Each year we want to send off our year 6 pupils in a special way, so they all have lasting memories of their time at Howbridge.
"There was a very special atmosphere, and quite a few tears too."
