A UNIVERSITY choir held a special concert to mark the Queen's birthday.

The Anglia Singers, from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, prepared a unique music program taking in music from 1926 until today including well known pieces by Cole Porter, Ivor Novello, Elton John and a selection from various musicals.

The concert, which took place at St Mary's Church in Great Baddow on June 17, was narrated by Janet Dann who got the audience laughing along to some anecdotes.

There was also a selection of readings throughout the event.

Sylvia Lester, choir member, said: "The Union Jack-bedecked concert was a fun and relaxed event, with a large and appreciates audience, culminating in a sing-along to Always Look on the Bright Side."

Donations were collected for Mid African Concern, a charity supported by St Mary's Church, who raised £400.
