A WOMAN has been arrested following a head-on collision which saw a car end up in a ditch. 

Police had blocked off Maldon Road in Witham last night after the crash between a Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 307. 

It happened near to Blue Mills Hill and the Ford ended up in a ditch.  

The ambulance service was called at about 5.38pm. They sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and an ambulance officer. 

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Three patients were taken to Broomfield Hospital - one was a woman who had head and abdomen pain. 

"None of the injuries were seen to be life threatening."

The injuries of the other two patients are unknown. 

Police were called shortly after 5.25pm, as well as the fire service. 

Police said: "The Peugeot driver, a 21-year-old woman from Witham, was taken to hospital and later discharged.

She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and released on bail until May 28 pending further enquiries."


The road was closed for a short time while the scene was cleared.
