HEARTBROKEN family and friends of a missing man have been left without answers for a year.

Chris May, 28, disappeared after visiting his dad in Mount Road, Coggeshall, at around 9.45am on May 25, 2015.

He sent a text to a friend in Kelvedon to say he was going to Braintree, but his phone was switched off from 11.50am and his silver VW Golf was found abandoned near woodland in Troys Chase, Fairstead, two days later.

On June 1, an anonymous letter was sent to Witham Police Station claiming that Chris May was murdered during an attack, leading police to treat the case as a “murder without a body”, rather than as a missing person with suspicious circumstances.

The author was never found.

Police are renewing their appeal for information with a number of special events today.

Mr May, who attended Honywood Community Science School and St Peter’s Primary School in Coggeshall, is one of five siblings.

Braintree and Witham Times:

His mum Lorraine, of Mount Road, Coggeshall, and originally from Halstead, appealed to members of the public with no success, describing him as “a loving family person.”

She said: “Chris is really close to his brother Daniel and three sisters, Charlene, Gemma and Kelly.

“We are a really close family unit and his disappearance is tearing us apart.

“We are devastated.”
