A SELFLESS ten-year-old girl has decided to donate her hair to cancer patients.

Chloe Williams, aged 10 and from Silverend, will have between 11 and 15 inches trimmed to go towards making wigs for people who have lost their hair battling the disease.

Her grandad, Anthony Bissett aged 62, has recently been diagnosed with incurable cancer and on hearing the awful news, Chloe was determined to help other sufferers.

Chloe, who is studying for her year 6 SATS tests at Silverend Primary School, also wants to raise £350 for the Little Princess Trust, which is the cost of making a wig out of donated hair.

She said: "When my mum told me about my grandad and how the chemo will make him loose his hair, it made me think of all the boys and girls that also have to go through that.

"I want to be able to make their journey a little easier and would love to donate my hair to help someone."

Chloe's mother Stef said: "I can't express how proud I am of Chloé.

"The fact that she is mature enough to be able to put other children's needs above her own and be brave enough to actually go through with having her gorgeous long hair cut to the shoulders is beyond anything I could of expected her to do.

"She is able to be kind and thoughtful enough to turn the pain and sadness we are experiencing as a family and think of how she can make other children's pain a little easier.

"I love how she has turned our grief and heartache into something so positive, something she can be proud of for the rest of her life, she will always remember the reason and emotion to why she chose to do such a selfless act"

The Little Princess Trust provides free of charge real-hair wigs for boys and girls who have cancer or other conditions that cause hair loss.
