A GOOD Samaritan who performed first aid on a seriously injured motorcyclist is hoping to be reunited with the man six months on.

Tim Williamson, 21, of Park Drive, Halstead, was driving along Braintree Road from Shalford towards Rayne at around 5pm on August 21 when he saw a man lying in the middle of the road after it had collided with a car.

Mr Williamson rushed over to the man and found he was badly injured.

He said: “I think the motorcyclist’s foot had got caught in the front wheel of the bike and almost ripped the bottom half of his leg off during the crash.

“His leg was just attached by a bit of skin and you could see the inside of it.

“I have first aid training but it didn’t really tell you what to do for that kind of injury so I used my brain and got the only clean material I had in my van, bubble wrap, and wrapped his leg up.

“I was holding it for an hour and a half while the paramedics were working on him around me.

“The driver of the car he crashed with phoned the ambulance and they were there in seven or eight minutes.”

The motorcyclist gave his name as Bartek, spoke mostly in Polish and is described as having short dark hair and being in his late 30s or early 40s.

Mr Williamson is desperate to track the man down and find out how he is doing since the accident.

He said: “I just thought if it was me I would want someone to help.

“The best thing was the guy was Polish and one of the first paramedics there was one of only two in the East of England Ambulance Service that spoke the language.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 5.08pm on August 21 to a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle.

“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene, a hazardous response team and a response car from the Herts and Essex Air Ambulance.

“They treated a man in his 30s who suffered a serious leg injury and he was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further treatment.”

The ambulance service is working to try to track down the man involved.
