A RIBBON cutting ceremony celebrated the refurbishment of a town’s landmark clock tower.

Refurbishments to Grade II listed building included maintenance to the bell at the top and repainting.

The improvements were made following a £15,000 grant from Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund and a £1,000 donation from the Coggeshall Society.

Also attending the grand opening of the improved tower were Braintree Councillor for the Coggeshall Ward, Lady Patricia Newton and Essex County Councillor Mick Page.

Sue Wilson, chairman of Coggeshall Parish Council said: “It looks brilliant.

“There was a ribbon cutting ceremony and we all had a chat about the changes, it’s a lovely boost for the town.

“People have been very positive and think it looks great.”
