FORMER workers at a world famous textile company gathered to share their memories and photographs at a special event at a museum.

The Courtaulds reunion took place at Braintree Museum in Manor Street with more than 40 past employees.

Collections manager Claire Willetts said: "Not only was it a lovely social event, many people offered donations to the museum collections and wrote down their memories for our archive.

“We certainly plan to hold another event next year. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an enjoyable afternoon.

“If you have taken a memories sheet away to complete please do send it on to us.

“Also, if you were unable to attend but would like to share your memories, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you"

The occasion included a talk by Dr Ernst Vegelin van Claerbergen, head of the Courtauld Gallery at the Courtauld Institute of Art on the development of Samuel Courtauld's art collection.

The museum is hosting another reunion event on October 13 for former Lake & Elliot employees.
