A DISABLED Iraq war veteran is planning to launch an official charity to help other wounded ex-servicemen.
Chris Baker has been raising money by touring his specially adapted motorcycle under the banner Bikers Respect All Veteran Equally (Brave).
On Saturday, the former Royal Engineer led a procession of 50 motorbikes from Blake End, through the Hedinghams and Earls Colne and back to the Woolpack pub in Coggeshall.
He said: “There has been a lot of planning and a lot of sleepless nights, but we pulled it off in the end.
“I only set Brave up in June and to get this kind of support is overwhelming. I’m chuffed.”
The bikers set up information stalls outside the pub, sold cupcakes and offered rides on a red trike owned by Phil Henson, of Coggeshall.
They also each paid a small fee to join the run.
Mr Baker said the cash is being passed on to charities such as Holidays for Heroes and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (Ssafa), and he is filling out paperwork to become a registered charity.
