A village school is celebrating after its Parent Teacher Association raised more than £3,500 to help school funds.

The PTA at Wethersfield Primary School held a number of events throughout the school year, including a family picnic, summer fair and a quiz night, to reach the total.

It is £1,000 more than last year.

School governor, Charlotte Tillbrook, said: “It has been a lot of hard work for the PTA but it has all paid off.

“They have changed what they did this year so they have had less outlay costs.

“Everything has been really well supported by parents and local businesses including Travis Perkins, Bookers and Ford.

“It has been a real community effort.”

The money will go back into the school, helping the school with materials, trips and new resources.

The 87 pupils at the school have also been working hard, especially the Foundation Stage classes who have made great progress.

An open morning for the school is being held on October 10 from 10am until 12 noon.

This will be followed in the evening with a Barn Dance in the village hall, with a live band playing.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from the school or village post office.
