A pantomime company is celebrating after being given a new venue for its productions, thanks to an appeal in the Times.

Braintree-based Pantoloons, which performed its first pantomime in the town in 1984, was at risk of having to close its curtains forever after being told it could no longer use the hall at Braintree Arts Theatre due to clashes with school timetables.

However, Max Fox at The College at Braintree, part of the Colchester Sixth Form, has saved the panto group after seeing the group’s appeal in the Times in April.

**The group, which scooped the North Essex Theatre Guild’s Best Pantomime last year, will be presenting Jack and the Beanstalk at The College at Braintree from January 16 to 23.
