The parents of a young musician killed in a car crash played their hearts out at a festival by his former music club.
Mike and Jill Simmons, of Hillside Gardens, Braintree, opened Sound Academy’s annual Byte Fest at Bocking Arts Theatre with two songs on bagpipes and the keyboard.
Their talented son, James Simmons, 18 was one of three people killed in a car crash on December 7 inBraintree Road, Gosfield.
He played lead guitar, bass guitar and drums twice a week at Sound Academy in Braintree Salvation Army Foyer, in St Michael’s Road.
His friend and fellow Sound Academy musician, Corran Powell, 21, died as a result of his injuries in the head-on crash, which also killed David Bradley, 30, of Beckers Green Road, Braintree.
The festival on August 15 drew in a crowd of 160 people and was a chance for the group’s members to show off their skills.
