Developers plan to demolish a Victorian shop in a village High Street as part of a scheme to renovate two cottages.
Douglas Management Ltd has applied to knock down the single storey 56 High Street in Kelvedon.
It is the second application after Braintree Council refused a similar plan last month on the grounds that the building was in a conservation area and it would cause traffic problems.
The developers have now dropped plans to build two new houses at the rear of the property.
