Plans for a hotel at a Great Notley business park could be scrapped in favour of 18 industrial units.

Paul Bewers from Seybourne Estates Ltd has applied to Braintree Council to build more business and storage premises at a site in the Skyline 120 business park, next to Great Notley Country Park.

The site, which is bigger than two full-size football pitches, was granted planning permission for a hotel in 2007.

Michael Graham, on behalf of agents Hale Architecture Ltd, wrote to Braintree Council: “Whilst our client has had initial discussions with a hotel operator, these have unfortunately not progressed to any conclusion and a point to be made is that three hotels have been built close by the site since the original outline consent was granted in 2007, namely the Holday Inn Express east of the Great Notley/Panners Lane roundabout and the two hotels in Fowlers Farm, near Freeport."
