Hundreds of people are in favour of a new discount supermarket coming to a business park in Great Notley, it has been claimed.

Budget supermarket chain Aldi has applied for a 12,000 sq ft store with 89 car parking spaces at the entrance of the Skyline 120 business park, which would create 40 to 50 jobs.

Despite Braintree Council’s concerns that the store would put off firms setting up in the business park as well as taking up space allocated for business use, Aldi has said it is committed to coming to the area and has welcomed positive feedback from residents.

The firm claims that when it distributed an information leaflet and comment form to 2,500 homes in Great Notley, 700 people replied and more than 580 people supported the plans.

So far, about 20 residents have written to Braintree Council to offer their support of the plans.
