A KNITTING group is in a tangle after red tape stopped more than a hundred handmade toys going to their rightful owners.
The fortnightly Cro-knit group at the Hawthorns, in Braintree, have kindly crocheted mice, rabbits, dogs and other creatures to donate to poorly or underprivileged children.
But the six knitters were sad to hear health and safety rules at several hospitals and charities, including Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, meant they could not give the toys directly to poorly children.
Instead they could only offer to sell the toys for cash.
Member Audrey Titlow, 84, said this missed the point of their winter-long effort.
