A grandmother has been left heartbroken after a dog killed her beloved pet Chihuahua during a walk in Witham.
Janice Humphreys, 70, who is retired, feels lost without four-year-old Tiffany, who was savagely attacked by a greyhound in the recreation ground, in Rickstones Road, last Wednesday.
She was taken to Brookend Vets, in Braintree Road, but nothing could be done to save her.
Mrs Humphrey’s son Kevin was walking Tiffany at about 3.30pm when the greyhound came out of nowhere.
He said: “Tiffany was running about and then all of a sudden this dog bolted from nowhere and grabbed her.
“I tried to grab hold but I couldn’t get near it because it was running.
“I was shouting at it and then it just dropped her."
