A charity won an award and a donation of £1,000 at the annual High Sheriff’s Awards ceremony.
The Friends of the Flitch Way were presented with the Volunteer Centre Essex Award by the High Sherriff, Nicholas Charrington at Hylands House in Chelmsford.
The Friends of the Flitch Way assist the Country Park Rangers in maintaining and improving the Flitch Way Country Park.
In 2013 the group also bought and installed a railway carriage at Rayne Station for use as a community facility and a local museum.
The money will be put to use in line with the charity’s objectives.
