More than 450 people signed a petition at the British Heart Foundation shop in Braintree to get CPR taught in schools.
The charity believes everyone should be taught how to perform the life-saving technique and how to use a defibrillator.
So far, more than 80,000 people across the UK have pledged their support to the campaign.
The petition was delivered to Education Secretary Nicky Morgan.
Tracey Linnette, British Heart Foundation area manager, said: “Too many lives are lost needlessly every day simply because people don’t know how to perform CPR.
“By making sure every young person is taught this life-saving skill, we can help more people survive a cardiac arrest and go home to their families.”
