Three people were killed in workplace accidents in the Braintree district, according to latest figures.
In 2013/14, there were three deaths, 169 injuries and 2,400 people had work related illnesses.
In neighbouring Uttlesford, there were no deaths, 141 injuries and 1,500 people with illnesses.
The Health and Safety Executive said 11 people died at work across the East of England and 8,120 were hurt.
Tim Galloway, regional director for the South and East of England, said: “Workplace conditions have improved dramatically in the past four decades, but as employers plan and prepare for the new financial year they need to ensure that health, safety and welfare is a clear focus.”
