Aldi hopes to be open in Witham within a year.
The discount supermarket chain was granted permission for a 990sq m store in Witham last month, after initially being refused permission and losing an appeal.
An spokesman said: “We are delighted to have received planning consent for our new store in Witham, and look forward to bringing shoppers high quality products at everyday low prices.
“Construction work will commence early in the new year, with the store set to open in autumn 2015.”
It will be built on the corner of Gershwin Boulevard and Hatfield Road and is expected to create about 20 jobs.
