A cyclist was taken to hospital after he collided with a car in Cressing Road in Braintree this morning.

Police were called at 11.46am to find a man in his early 60s had suffered a shoulder injury after colliding with a Volkswagen Passat.

The road was closed for just over an hour while emergency services dealt with the scene.

Police said they are still looking into the circumstances of the collision but no arrests were made. 

An ambulance service spokesman said: "The man was treated for a suspected fractured collarbone but thankfully his condition did not appear to be life-threatening and he was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
