Hospice shop volunteers are looking for a temporary home after flooding forced them to close their premises.

Farleigh Hospice has two shops in Newland Street, Witham, and staff found the floor of the smaller one under several inches of water on September 20.

Rain overnight had run off the rear car park and under the back door.

The flooring will need to be replaced but most of the stock was undamaged.

Retail manager Jonathan Stokes said: “Our furniture shop across the road is now selling a limited range of clothing, so Farleigh Hospice continues to sell donated clothing in Witham, just on a smaller scale for the time being.

"However, if there are any local landlords with empty premises at the moment who might be willing to let us use it on a short term basis we would love to hear from them.”
