The company that runs a care home at the centre of abuse allegations has been told to improve the care and welfare of residents at another of its homes.

Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors visited St Mary’s Court, on Deanery Hill, Braintree, and said it failed to meet standards relating to the care and welfare of residents and the assessing and monitoring service quality.

However, standards were met for respecting and involving residents, consent to care and treatment, safeguarding residents from abuse, and requirements relating to workers, staffing and supporting workers.

Anglia Retirement Homes, which runs St Mary’s, also manages the neighbouring Old Deanery, where three former staff, who have been dismissed, have been charged with neglecting a vulnerable elderly resident.
