SPORTY supermarket staff raised £1,450 for charity when they took part in an in-store static bike ride.

Workers at Morrisons stores in Braintree and Witham raised the money for the Sue Ryder charity.

Community coordinator Louise Kemp of Braintree Morrisons said customers were very generous with their donations as staff took turns on the static bike.

She said: “It was an amazing achievment by all involved. Our challenge from head office was to cycle 108 miles from 8am to 6pm. We actually rode 170 miles.

“Our manager Chris Neave took part in a 54 mile bike ride from London to Brighton which he completed in six hours, again a fantastic achievment.”
