A 16-year-old blind teenager has been inspired to take up running after seeing his mum take part in seven ultra marathons.
Nicki Edwards, 42, of Bartram Avenue, Braintree, has been running for about 12 years and two years ago got involved in ultra marathons, which are any races that are longer than a normal marathon, which are 26 miles.
Mrs Edwards, a learning support assistant in PE, said: “I originally took up running to lose weight and took part in a couple of events.
“A friend lent me a book about ultra marathons and I was hooked.”
