Travel back to the Medieval ages with a festival and feast.

History Blooms, set up by Mark and Lynette Bloom, a husband and wife team who share a burning passion for history and a love for teaching it to others, are arranging the festival for its second year, after it was a success last time.

The festival, to be held at Coggeshall Grange Barn on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am until 5pm, will feature displays of archery, including an opportunity to have a go yourself, food, weaponry, surgery, birds of prey, embroidery, wood working, puppet shows, music and much more.

Child friendly activities are very important to us so there will be opportunities to make shields, daggers and helmets, design a medieval banner and hear stories about dragons and Robin Hood. Most of these will be free after entry, others will have a small fee.

Tickets cost £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.

On the Saturday evening there will also be a grand medieval feast.

Join Lord Lionel de Bradenham in 1350 after he has just successfully laid siege to the town of Colchester and has been paid off by the town elders with the princely sum of £20.

Along with Lady Beatrice, he will hold a celebratory feast of authentic Medieval food - a vegetarian option is available - and the local ale.

Enjoy the entertainment from travelling performers and listen to the wonderful period music as you sample food ranging from rissoles of pork sausage meat and cheese to spinach and date fritters.

Tickets for the feast are £20 and can be bought in advance from historyblooms.co.uk/Shop.html.
