Patients travelling from Witham to Braintree Community Hospital have called the lack of regular service “disgusting and unacceptable”.
Patients from Witham currently face a mile-long walk or a taxi ride from Braintree bus station to the hospital on Rayne Road as it is not served by a regular bus.
Witham town council discussed the issue on June 24 after it was raised by a board member of Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.
The council highlighted the Stansted Express connect 133 service is currently the only connecting bus to the hospital which stops there once an hour, which means some passengers using the 9.30am 132 service from Witham face a total journey time of 1 hour 45 minutes.
