Allegations of criminal damage and spitting marred the end of a bad-tempered football match.
Referee Colin Lymer became centre of attention in Braintree Town’s home defeat to Salisbury on Saturday after giving a red card to Iron striker Sean Marks.
And shocked club officials have been left to organise repairs after a dressing room door was damaged after the match.
Club secretary Tom Woodley said: "In my 30-plus years involved with the game, I've never seen anything like it."
A club spokesman said: “The club can confirm the perpetrator, who is known to the club, is not associated with either Braintree Town or Salisbury City football clubs.
“The perpetrator did not apologise, but accepted liability for the damage and offered to pay for the repairs to the facilities in full.”
