Braintree: Police lead crime prevention operation in Felsted

Police were out in force in a quiet village to look for criminals and offer residents crime prevention advice.

Officers from Uttlesford’s neighbourhood policing team and the Environment Agency were recently in Felsted for the first of a series of multi-agency operations to tackle house burglaries and scrap metal thefts.

More than 500 vehicles passed through automatic number plate recognition cameras and 15 were stop-checked.

Police community support officers also checked on the security of nearly 400 residential properties and 55 vehicles.

They gave crime prevention advice to the owners of any homes or vehicles that were found to be vulnerable to potential break-ins.
