Volunteers are thrilled with the positive response to their plea to save Witham Carnival from the axe.

The Times reported last week how the 83-year-old event is in danger of folding because Witham Carnival Association has lost about seven members.

Its remaining ten volunteers need to find enough help by February for it to go ahead next year.

Following last week’s article, at least eight people have already been in touch to express an interest in helping out.

Call Rob Williams on 01376 510845 or attend the next meeting on November 22 at Monni’s in Newland Street, Witham, at 8pm.
