Braintree district: Unemployment levels showing few signs of improvement
Unemployment levels have remained steady in recent months, but show little sign of drastic improvement.
The amount of people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance (JSA) in Braintree district in September fell slightly to 2,502.
It is a significant drop from the high point of 3,135 claimants, recorded in January 2010, but unemployment levels remain at double the level they were in 2008.
Braintree district continues to cope slightly better than the regional and national average - 2.7% of eligible workers in Braintree are claiming JSA, compared to 3% in the East of England and 3.8% nationally.
