Braintree: Dad fears "out of service" bus is putting children off further education
A father who is demanding action over an “out of service” bus fears the problems could put children off going to college.
Colin Bennett resorted to writing to Prime Minister David Cameron about the number nine and 16 bus service that drives past his house in Great Saling saying “out of service” but picks up passengers four miles down the road.
His 16-year-old son Chege currently has to cycle the four miles or ride seven miles to the College at Braintree to study health and social care.
Chege, who is recovering from renal failure, suffers dizzy spells and his family are worried about the journey as the clocks change and the weather worsens.
Mr Bennett said: “Chege wants to be educated for a worthwhile job.
“But even if he left college how does he get a job, I have no idea what to do next.
“There are children starting next year from the village but there is no way they will get there.
