Police mounted unit to disband
THE Essex Police Mounted Unit has been axed.
The force has promised to find good homes for the horses but senior officers said it had to disband the unit to save £600,000 a year.
Essex Police is trying to save £42million in annual spending by 2014.

Still it lasted 4 years having been formed in 2008 by former Chief Constable Roger Baker on the basis that he had come from a force that had horses, he liked horses and he had horses of his own. A solid rationale to waste loads of Essex taxpayers money.
