SCOTTISH terriers, irons and racecars will race around Chelmsford trying to build a property empire.

Monopoly officially launched its Chelmsford edition with copies of the game in shops on Tuesday morning.

Landmarks on the board include Hylands House, Chelmsford Cathedral, the Ford County Ground, Shire Hall and New Hall School.

The city was chosen by Winning Moves, the producers of the game, in April after beating challenges from other parts of Essex. Residents were then given the chance to choose which landmarks to include.

Mark Hauser, commercial director of Winning Moves, said: “We are delighted with this new board which we feel captures the feel of Chelmsford.”

A launch event featuring lifesize props from the game was held at Hylands House.

Ceri Lowen, manager of the site, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the official launch and to be on the new board.”
