A boy who was injured in a road crash has died.

Essex Police said the driver of a black Peugeot 206 appeared to have lost control of the car while travelling along the B1051 near Thaxted shortly before 9.30pm last Wednesday and struck a tree.

The 11-year-old front seat passenger was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, after suffering head injuries but died there on Monday.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was also injured.

She remains in a stable condition at the hospital. The pair live in the Thaxted area.
