A couple suffered a terrifying crash after the brakes failed on their van only hours after the RAC said the vehicle was safe to drive.
Singer Andy Wilsher, 46, was travelling back to Witham from a gig in Cumbria with his wife Jackie when they crashed at 40mph near Freeport in Braintree.
Jackie, who was driving, suffered burns to her face after the airbag deployed, but the couple have expressed their relief no one was killed or seriously injured.
The RAC has admitted liability for the crash and will pay the couple a four-figure settlement for their injuries and financial losses.
