A young football fan was his team's mascot for a 6-1 victory.

Flynn Gardner, 7, of Bridport Way, Braintree was chosen at random to be the Gunners’ mascot for their recent victory over Coventry City in the Capital One Cup.

Football mad Flynn got to meet the entire Arsenal team, including one of the stars of the game –goal scorer and England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Flynn also bagged players’ autographs and a brand new Arsenal kit.

He said: “I had a brilliant day, especially meeting one of my favourite players, Oxlade-Chamberlain.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain, pictured with Flynn ahead of the game, said: “It wasn’t so long ago that I was in Flynn’s position, going to games as a young lad, so it was great fun to meet him. I hope he had a great time and will remember the day for a long time to come.”
