Quick-thinking commuters came to a man’s rescue after he collapsed in the street.

Estate agent Russell Davis was travelling home from work when he saw the man lying in Collingwood Road, Witham, suffering a fit.

He and another woman stayed with the man for half an hour and administered basic first aid until paramedics arrived.

An ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We do our very best to get to patients within the appropriate time frame, but sometimes this is a challenge if we’re very busy elsewhere with more serious cases such as cardiac arrests, strokes and unconsciousness."

He said the patient was assessed by the ambulance crew and did not need to go to hospital. The man was then taken home.

I find it really inappropriate that the company are gaining cheap advertising from someone’s misfortune. Yes, well done for stopping and helping the person in need, who wouldn’t stop and help but there is no need for there to be a blatant photo of this company in the paper just because this individual works there.
