Witham: Spaniel miraculously survives being hit by train Witham: Spaniel miraculously survives being hit by train

A miracle dog struck by a train has returned home after vets feared he was not going to survive.

12-year-old springer spaniel Ben was rushed to Spring Lodge Vetinary Hospital after being hit by a train at a railway crossing in Burnham.

The dog was rushed to the surgery, in Powers Hall End, Witham, with blood gushing from its mouth, a broken jaw and its skull fractured in four places.

Vets initially gave Ben no chance of survival, but the much-loved family pet has returned home after owners Wiesia and Kevin Cooper spent £2,000 in fees.

Mrs Cooper, 55, of Chestnut Close, Burnham, said: “It’s amazing he’s still alive. The vets didn’t give him any hope what so ever, but we never gave up on him.”
