A MAN who killed a former Essex vicar carried out a burglary in which a note threatening to "kill Christian scum" was pinned to the table with knives, a court heard.

Stephen Farrow, 48, admits the manslaughter of Rev John Suddards but denies murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Rev Suddards, 59, who had moved to South Gloucestershire from Witham in July last year, was found stabbed to death on February 14.

Michael Fitton QC, prosecuting, told the at Bristol Crown Court jury that Farrow, of no fixed address, carried out Vine Cottage, near Rev Suddards' home between December 21 last year and January 3 this year.

He left a chilling note pinned to a table with knives.

A month later, Rev Suddards was found dead. He had been carefully positioned on the floor of his vicarage surrounded by pornography, party poppers and a condom wrapper, the court heard.
