An Olympic medallist put more than 100 hockey players through their paces in an inspiring training session.

Former Braintree player Chloe Rogers, who is also the Essex ambassador for London 2012, visited Witham Hockey Club on Wednesday **26 sep** and gave a talk about her experiences at Maltings Academy.

She then took the junior members, aged six to 14, to the astro turf pitch to practice their drills and have some photos taken with their idol- even trying her medal on.

The bronze medallist also trained with the men and women’s teams before signing lots of memorabilia.

The club has seen a rise in membership since the Olympics.

Chairman Sam Taylor said: “It's been great to work with Chloe and we hope to make this an ongoing relationship.

“She was brilliant with our young members and truly has inspired so many.

“As a club we can't thank Chloe enough for giving up her time to come along.

“It has been amazing to see over 100 players of all ages all turn out for this amazing experience and we want to ensure this Olympic legacy continues for such an enjoyable and family orientated sport.”
