Braintree: 99-year-old takes to the ice for the first time
A 99-year-old daredevil took to the ice rink for the first time in her life as her latest bucket list challenge.
Diana Morgan, along with former teacher Joyce Brewster, 90, Pat Davenport, 86, and Tom Chappell, 87, glided on to the ice on wheelchairs with “skate plates.”
The four Bradbury House residents were the latest to take part in the challenges which have also included horse and carriage rides, motorbike journeys, sessions in sports cars and aeroplane trips.
Ms Morgan was even heard to say, “it is ok but I would really like to go faster, can’t we pirouette.”
Manager Nikki Leaney said: “We do ‘dreams can come true’ as we believe in quality at the end of life.
“If they are happy and pain free they can still do things, it is about bucket lists.
“‘We try to provide a wide variety of activities for our residents, even to accommodate the more daring requests.
“Although we haven’t had sky diving yet.
“I hope I am still finding new things to try when I get to 99.”
