Witham: New use for old school building?

Children unable to attend school due to anxiety or illness could be taught at an empty primary school in Witham.

Chipping Hill School in Church Street has been vacant since earlier this year, when the school moved to a new building in Owers Road.

An Essex County Council spokesman said: “Essex County Council is currently investigating the re-use of the property for alternative education and children centred services.

“We anticipate the outcome of the investigations being reported by the end of October so that a decision on the property can be taken before the end of the year."

i cannot agree with this scheme for children who are anxious about going to school that is stupid i was terrified of going to school but had no choice there is only so much pandering that is acceptable they will not become well adjusted adults if they are people bend over backwards just because they are anxious about school

I completely agree with this idea.There are a few children that get very ill of the thought of going to school.Also it wouldnt just be for them,educational needs, covers a big area.Before anyone has a go yes i do know what im on about.

Its not just about getting ill its about those also I think who have been bullied in the past and the thought of going back into a mainstream school petrifies them. Good idea if means kids get back into school and already has all the facilities rather than getting lost in the system and in an accessable place :-)
