A son completed a triathlon in memory of his father, who died from a rare cancer.

Mike Jefferson, 26, took part in the Virgin Active London Triathlon on September 23, completing a 1500m swim, 40km cycle ride and 10km run in just under three-and-a-half-hours.

His father Neil, who died from a rare form of bile duct cancer in May, aged 50, had decided to fundraise for Marie Curie and set himself the target of raising £10,000.

Mike, of Kenworthy Road, Braintree, aims to double this fundraising effort and is just £800 short of his £20,000 target.
