Witham: Funding to improve shopping parade withdrawn
Money set aside to improve a run-down parade of shops was later withdrawn because it was not deemed a priority area.
Traders at the shops in Spa Road , Witham, have complained the area needs refurbishment to attract residents to use the area.
In 2009, the Community and Housing Investment Partnership (CHIP) Fund allocated £20,000 to be spent on the Spa Road shops.
But representatives of the Humber Road Estate Community Initiative (HRECI) were told a year later the money was no longer available.

Why does all the money seem to get take and redistributed elsewhere. we have a poor high street, no facilities such as a cinema,bowling alley or decent restaurants!
